After my kids finished Hooked On Phonics, I like to go right into a hundred book challenge. With my oldest, I made this reading challenge printable pack and after she finished it I kinda dropped the ball a bit. I want to inspire my kids to love reading and do a lot of it. Now that she’s reading chapter books, I wanted a way for her to enjoy getting through chapters instead of dreading them.

I thought a simple gumball machine chart would be good motivation for her and boy was I right! The day I made this and printed out for her, she read 5 chapters within minutes. That excitement about reading is what I was looking for!

I made a couple versions of this so you can use it for chapters or for numbers of books read.

You can use round stickers, dot markers, or any stickers you have in the house for the gumballs. I made a blank version and a version with circles and numbers in them if that works better for your family.

We’re having a blast adding “gumballs” to our gumball machine and looking forward to our roller skating reward! I really hope your kids enjoy this printable!

With love,

Christy
